Details And Tariffs

At Phambili Safaris, we value professionalism, ethics and great sportsmanship. We only offer hunting opportunities in the Limpopo province (in malaria-free areas) and most hunts will take place in typical “bushveld” conditions. Most of our hunting is spot-and-stalk and we believe in fair chase (we do not hunt from a vehicle). We go out of our way to take care of our clients and to ensure clear communication throughout the hunt. You can be sure to have a hunting experience you will never forget!

FAQ

Can I bring my own rifle?

Yes. You will need to complete the appropriate paperwork in order to do this.

What to do when I’m bringing my own Firearm?

Fill in a SAP 520
(it is recommended that you this form beforehand as it will save processing time at the Police Office).
Please familiarize yourself with the latest firearm exporting legislation in your country.

For your convenience, we have also linked to the USA CUSTOMs 4457 document.

  • Any automatic or semi-automatic firearms.
  • More than one firearm per calibre per person.
  • More than 200 rounds of ammunition per person per firearm.
  • Any pistol or revolver (unless specified for hunting)

What are the suggested Rifles & Calibres?

Calibres ranging from .270 to .375 are preferred. For plains game .270,7mm, 30.06, .308 and .300 WinMag are adequate.

It is important to spend time on the shooting range at home, before your African hunt begins and use shooting sticks. You will sight- in your rifles again at Shikwaru before you start the hunt.

*The issuing of the temporary import permits at the port of entry is free of charge. You should keep the permit with you at all times while in South Africa and when the firearms are in your possession.

Is it safe?

Yes. We go out of our way to ensure that all our clients are well taken care of. Clients will be accommodated at secure accommodation on Shikwaru.

What is there to do besides hunting?

If you have free time (depending on the hunt), you can enjoy the many different activities Shikwaru and the surrounding area has to offer, like the swimming, mini-golf, fishing, spa-treatments, game drive, Golf etc.

I would like to bring a group. How many people can I bring?

The maximum amount of hunters we currently allow is 12 (provided they all take the 2-1 option). There is not a limit to non-hunters.

Is there any guarantee that I will be able to hunt the animals I want?

No. As any experienced hunter will testify, there aren’t guarantees in this sport. We will do our utmost best to get you good opportunities but cannot guarantee anything. We encourage all our clients to be flexible and have a good variety on their “list”. You might be looking for a kudu all week but then an opportunity of a nice eland presents itself…

Who will guide me on the hunt?

Phambili contracts different Professional Hunters and we can assure you that you will be guided by a professional and ethical PH.

What does a typical day look like?

The ideal time for hunting is early in the morning and late afternoon. We therefore start our hunt at sunrise or soon after. Depending on the length of your stay and the list of trophies you would like to get; we typically take a break in the heat of the day (and have lunch) before the afternoon session (when it is a bit cooler).

What is the best time to schedule a hunt?

We take clients between March and September since these are the cooler months. The ideal time is between April and August – when it is still early in the season and the weather is best.

What is the weather like?

On average the weather is between 5°C – 35°C (41°F – 95°F).

Can I stay longer and do some more tourism activities?

Yes, there are many tourism options in Limpopo province and across South Africa. Plan your own trip or give us the privilege of showing you top tourist destinations such as Kruger National Park, Cape Winelands, and the Garden Route.

Is there network access?

You will have access to Wi-Fi at our accommodation, but unfortunately there will be limited cellphone reception.

Do you offer a laundry service?

Our accommodation includes daily laundry and cleaning services.
